We pollute

Even though we offset all our greenhouse gas emissions by 200%

But we are taking action to reduce our footprint. Since 2020.

Breakdown of CO₂ emissions in 2025

  • Purchase/manufacture of servers and electronic equipment
  • Home-work commuting
  • Total electricity consumption
  • Heating and cooling
  • Food and drinks
  • Business travel and overnight stays
  • Waste and recycling
  • Offsetting our CO₂ emissions

In 2025, NeoFlux generated approximately 85 tCO₂ eq. We are launching our first internal GHG assessment and defining a three-year offsetting plan.

We can only improve what can be measured rigorously.

The calculation of our CO₂ emissions covers all of NeoFlux's activities: from the extraction of raw materials for the servers to their manufacture, from transport to disposal, right down to our team members' daily commutes. We are launching our first internal GHG assessment to accurately measure our footprint and define a three-year reduction plan.

Which NeoFlux activity causes the most pollution? The purchase of new servers.

Here's why. Since we use renewable energy and Hetzner's datacenters feature natural outside-air cooling systems, our servers emit the same amount of CO₂ produced to build them only after 7–10 years of operation.

That's why we decided to extend the lifecycle of our servers to 15 years. This means choosing machines designed to be upgraded over time with more advanced components. The performance and reliability of our services are guaranteed by cluster redundancy.

The challenge? Finding a good balance between resource needs, performance and durability. We continuously optimize resource usage: whatever is not used is automatically reallocated.

Our team members' travel and purchases also have an impact on our ecological footprint.

to encourage our staff to embrace soft mobility.

We raise our team members' awareness of our environmental impact, motivating them to adopt eco-friendly behaviors in both their private and professional lives. An internal mobility plan encourages greener transport: it reduces carbon emissions, is good for health and builds new positive habits. It's an investment.

From day one, NeoFlux has chosen suppliers that power datacenters with 100% renewable energy.

Since our founding
100%

Email, hosting, PEC, software: all our services are powered by renewable energy.

The electricity powering our Hetzner datacenters in Germany has come 100% from certified renewable sources since 2017.

In 2025 alone, we would have consumed 31% more electricity had we not undertaken our energy-efficiency initiatives. That is equivalent to 50 Italian households.

We design our infrastructure without compromise to exceed the market's energy-efficiency standards.

Free cooling

Our PUE figures are among the best examples in the world.

To achieve such a low energy-efficiency indicator (PUE of 1.1 versus a European average of 1.8), our Hetzner datacenters cool the servers using only filtered outside air and continuously adjust ventilation according to real needs.

On average, our infrastructure consumes 10 W for every 100 W dedicated to running the servers.

The shared cluster keeps a few machines working at maximum instead of many sitting idle.

It may seem trivial, but this architectural detail allows us to save up to 30% of energy compared to a traditional infrastructure with separate VMs. Every watt counts.

Our infrastructure is redundant and resilient, even in critical moments.

The Hetzner datacenters hosting NeoFlux services have emergency generators that are tested regularly. When the local power grid experiences a problem, the backup systems ensure service continuity with no noticeable interruption for customers and without the need for manual intervention.

Our operational waste represents a minimal share of our CO₂ emissions.

Incinerable waste0.18 tCO₂eq
Water used0.04 tCO₂eq
Recyclable waste0.005 tCO₂eq
Electronic waste0.003 tCO₂eq

Is it local and responsible?

Every purchase undergoes a preliminary analysis that lets us determine whether an alternative solution is possible. We also assess the future optimization potential of new hardware to extend its lifecycle. We systematically favor local and responsible suppliers.

Financing projects to mitigate CO₂ emissions is a transitional solution that every company can easily implement.

Offsetting

We offset our CO₂ emissions by 200%.

This includes the production and disposal of servers, the electricity used and our staff's travel. Our measures are not perfect: trees grow more slowly than our emissions. That's why double offsetting is the obvious minimum.

Geographic distribution

100% Italy, 100% abroad. The Earth is one.

We pollute both in Italy (offices, travel) and abroad (datacenters in Germany, hardware produced in Asia). Our offsetting follows the same logic: local projects for local emissions, international ones for foreign emissions.

1%

Who protects bees, trees and oceans?

1% of our growth is donated to non-profit organizations committed to protecting nature and to making environmental legislation more binding, especially in our sector.

200%

Double offsetting, adjusted every year

Our contribution is recalculated annually based on the actual amount of CO₂ emitted. When we grow, our offsetting commitment grows too.

The purpose of our work is to build sustainable things, at least for a company.

Without reducing our emissions and continuously optimizing energy efficiency, offsetting measures are insufficient. We are aware that the positive effects are often delayed over time. This approach is nonetheless within reach of every company: it's an easy first step aimed at fostering awareness and reducing emissions.

The team's point of view

You cannot save the world by respecting the rules currently in force, because those rules must be changed. Everything must change, starting today.
